Architect in Zurich and in Berlin, he leaves everything to settle in France. Architecture, becoming too secure, gives way to a light, temporary and rootless design. For his daughter, he makes twelve rocking horses. Then furniture and lighting follow, some are published in Germany and in Italy, others are sold in his shop in Bordeaux.


In his work, two complementary approaches stand out: on the one hand a rationalist spirit always concerned about typologies and norms, on the other hand a rebellious spirit freed from conventions. He keeps on questioning the everyday object and to enhance it: “We must find the good question. As if the well-expressed question was already hiding its answer. I wish that an idea, a concept or a principle turns a simple object into a complex, rich and startling one. It’s the soft and lasting magic…”
